Terms & Conditions
Last updated: October 13, 2026
For a plain-language summary of what adopting means, read our Adoption & Harvest Policy. In short: adoption is a membership, not ownership; your seasonal box is part of your membership, but its contents and origin can vary with the harvest; and the family story and imagery on this website are illustrative.
About these terms
Terre de Lavande (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates this website. These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to your use of this website and to every membership, gift membership or other purchase made through it.
By creating an account or completing a purchase you agree to these Terms, our Adoption & Harvest Policy and our Shipping & Returns terms, which form part of these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. If anything in these Terms conflicts with rights you have under mandatory consumer law, the law prevails.
1. Nature of the adoption
“Adoption” is a membership supporting our partner lavender farm and providing access to the membership benefits described at the time of purchase. Adoption does not constitute the purchase, lease, rental or ownership of, or any other legal interest in, any specific land, plant, row, plot, crop or agricultural production.
Members do not own, and have no claim to, the lavender or any other output produced on the area associated with their adoption. Any plant, row, plot, garden, name, marker, map position or certificate linked to a membership may be representative. An adoption is not an investment, carries no right to profits or revenue, and has no cash or resale value.
2. Photos, examples and storytelling
Some photographs and videos on the website are royalty-free stock images of the Valensole plateau and similar lavender fields, used until our partner farm’s own photography is available. Example plant profiles, example letters and product photos illustrate the experience and are labelled as examples. They should not be read as documentary records of a specific plant, person or event.
Seasonal updates, photos and letters sent to members may show the farm or the field in general rather than a member’s specific plant, plot or row.
3. Membership benefits
Each membership includes the benefits listed for that plan at the time of purchase, such as a certificate, a name or marker, seasonal updates and a seasonal box. Seasonal boxes, products and other physical items are membership benefits. They are not distributions of, or ownership interests in, agricultural output. Where our marketing refers to “your harvest”, “the harvest” or similar, it describes the spirit of the membership; the legal meaning is the seasonal box and other benefits described in these Terms.
4. Harvest variability
Lavender is an agricultural product and each growing season is different. Harvest timing, quantity, quality and availability may be affected by weather, drought, excessive rainfall, frost, fire, pests, disease, crop failure, regulatory restrictions and other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Membership does not guarantee that products included in a seasonal box will be produced from lavender harvested from the specific field, plot or plants associated with a member’s adoption.
We will make reasonable efforts to include products originating from the relevant season’s harvest whenever practicable. Where the harvest is insufficient, unsuitable or unavailable, we may substitute products, ingredients or materials of comparable nature, quality or value sourced from the same farm, another partner producer or another appropriate source.
5. No guaranteed quantity or yield
Adoption does not entitle the member to a specified quantity of lavender, lavender oil or other agricultural output and does not create a right to any percentage or share of the farm’s harvest. Plant counts and field sizes associated with a plan describe the scale of the membership, not a quantity of produce.
6. Products and substitutions
Product photographs, packaging, fragrances, sizes, varieties and box contents shown on the website are examples unless expressly identified as guaranteed contents. We may make reasonable substitutions due to seasonality, availability, harvest conditions, production constraints or shipping restrictions. Any substitution will be of comparable value; we do not promise identical contents.
Products may be made, finished or packed by third parties. Product labels and inserts take precedence over descriptions on the website.
7. Timing
Harvest, production and delivery dates are estimates. The harvest box is usually shipped after the summer harvest, typically in autumn, and other boxes on the schedule of your plan (twice a year, every season or every month), but agricultural conditions, production schedules, customs, carriers and other circumstances may cause delays. A delay does not by itself entitle you to cancel or to a refund, but if a box has not shipped within 6 months of the estimated window you may cancel that membership year for a refund of the amount paid for it.
8. Partner farm changes
If a partner farm becomes unable or unwilling to participate — for example because of crop failure, sale of the property, retirement or the end of our relationship — we may transfer your adoption to another field or partner producer offering a substantially similar experience and benefits. We will tell you if this happens. If you do not wish to continue, you may cancel your membership and receive a pro-rata refund for any benefits not yet provided in the current membership year.
9. Membership term, price, renewal and cancellation
- Term. Each membership runs for one year from the date of purchase.
- Price. The total annual price in US dollars is shown before you pay. Sales tax, where applicable, is shown at checkout.
- Automatic renewal. Unless you cancel, your membership renews automatically for further one-year terms on the anniversary of your purchase, and your saved payment method is charged the annual price then in effect. We will send you a reminder by email before each renewal, and we will give you at least 30 days’ notice of any price change, which you can avoid by cancelling before the renewal date.
- How to cancel. You can cancel at any time by emailing info@terredelavande.com or by replying to any of our emails; we confirm the cancellation in writing. Cancelling stops future renewals; your current membership year continues, including any seasonal box already scheduled for that year.
- 14-day cancellation. You may cancel a new membership within 14 days of purchase for a full refund, provided no seasonal box has been shipped. Consumers in the EU, EEA or UK have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal; nothing in these Terms limits it. If you ask us to start providing the membership during that period, a proportionate amount may be deducted for benefits already provided, as the law allows. Personalised items made to your specification may be excluded from withdrawal where the law permits.
- Other refunds. Outside the cases above and in section 7, section 8 and our Shipping & Returns terms, amounts paid for a membership year that has started are not refundable, except where the law requires otherwise.
- Confirmation. After purchase we send a confirmation by email containing the key details of your membership, including the price, renewal date and how to cancel.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number.
9a. Founding reservations
- What it is. Before ordering opens you can reserve a plan at its founding price free of charge. A founding reservation is not a membership, does not confirm an adoption and does not oblige you to buy anything; it gives you early notice and the founding price when adoptions open.
- Limited space. The number of adoptions we can offer is limited by the size of our partner fields. Places are offered in the order reservations were made while space lasts, so we cannot guarantee that every reservation will lead to an adoption.
- Leaving. You can unsubscribe from any email or ask us to remove your reservation by emailing info@terredelavande.com.
- Naming and field positions. After reserving or adopting you may name your plant and either choose a spot on our field map or have one assigned. The map shown on the website is illustrative, the plant associated with your adoption may be representative, and if the final field layout differs we will give you the closest equivalent spot.
- Personal. A waitlist place is personal and cannot be transferred or resold.
10. Gift memberships
If you buy a membership as a gift, you confirm that you may share the recipient’s name, email address and shipping address with us for that purpose. The buyer remains responsible for payment and for renewal unless the gift membership is cancelled. The recipient receives the membership benefits; neither buyer nor recipient acquires any interest in land, plants or harvest.
11. Visits and experiences
References to visiting a farm, meeting farmers or other experiences describe possible future features. They are not included in any membership unless we expressly confirm them to you in writing and may be subject to availability, separate terms and fees.
12. Product use and safety
Lavender products, and essential oils in particular, are for external and aromatic use only. Do not swallow essential oils. Dilute before applying to skin, do a patch test, avoid eyes and mucous membranes, keep out of reach of children and pets, and consult a doctor before use if you are pregnant, nursing, have a medical condition or known allergies. Stop using any product that causes irritation. Nothing on this website is medical advice, and our products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
13. Warranties and liability
We will provide the membership with reasonable care and skill, and products will be as described in these Terms (allowing for the variability and substitutions described above). To the extent permitted by law, we give no other warranties, express or implied, including about the origin, variety or quantity of products or about illustrative content.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, data or goodwill, and our total liability for any claim relating to a membership is limited to the amount you paid for that membership in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under mandatory consumer and product-liability law.
14. Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including weather and natural disasters, crop failure, epidemics, strikes, customs or carrier failures, supplier failures, government action, and internet or payment-provider outages. We will tell you as soon as reasonably possible and take reasonable steps to limit the effect.
15. Website content and acceptable use
Content on this website belongs to us or our licensors and may not be copied without permission. Please do not misuse the website, access other members’ accounts, or submit unlawful or offensive content in names, labels or gift messages; we may refuse or edit such content.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes apply to new purchases from the date they are published. For existing memberships, material changes take effect from your next renewal, and we will notify you by email at least 30 days beforehand; you can cancel before the renewal if you do not agree.
17. Disputes
If you are a consumer, you benefit from any mandatory protections of the law of the country or state where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts where the law allows. Please contact us first at info@terredelavande.com so we can try to resolve any issue informally. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
